Local Quark-hadron Duality in Electron Scattering
We present some recent developments in the study of quark-hadron duality in structure functions in the resonance region. To understand the workings of local duality we introduce the concept of truncated moments, which are used to describe the Q dependence of specific resonance regions within a QCD framework.
متن کاملQuark-Hadron Duality in Electron Scattering
Quark-hadron duality addresses some of the most fundamental issues in strong interaction physics, in particular the nature of the transition from the perturbative to non-perturbative regions of QCD. I summarize recent developments in quark-hadron duality in lepton–hadron scattering, and outline how duality can be studied at future high-luminosity facilities such as Jefferson Lab at 12 GeV or an...
متن کاملQuark-Hadron Duality in Electron-Pion Scattering
We explore the relationship between exclusive and inclusive electromagnetic scattering from the pion, focusing on the transition region at intermediate Q2. Combining Drell-Yan data on the leading twist quark distribution in the pion with a model for the resonance region at large x, we calculate QCD moments of the pion structure function over a range of Q2, and quantify the role of higher twist ...
متن کاملObservation of exclusive electron-positron production in hadron-hadron collisions.
We present the first observation of exclusive e(+)e(-) production in hadron-hadron collisions, using pp[over] collision data at (square root) s = 1.96 TeV taken by the run II Collider Detector at Fermilab, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 532 pb(-1). We require the absence of any particle signatures in the detector except for an electron and a positron candidate, each with trans...
متن کاملUniversality in Hadron Production in Electron- Positron, Lepton-hadron and Hadron-hadron Reactions
Universality says that the mechanisms of hadron production are the same in all high-energy processes in which most of the final state hadrons arise from hard or semi-hard scattering of partons. Differences in the detailed composition of the final states are assumed to be due to differences in the flavours and configurations of the initial partons. Perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) has ...
